CHAPTER 6 : : COMPETITIVE SITUATION

6.2.1 Introduction 




Nowadays not only LCD monitor producers can be the competitor to BenQ`s LCD monitor, but also high technology projectors and even TV displays are the strong competitors to BenQ. Consumers behaviours are changing bit by bit because they cannot only choose LCD or CRT monitors as their computer displays, but also can use projector or high-end LCD TV as computer display, even at some particular part LCD TV and projector can be more useful than LCD monitors.

6.2.2. Sony

6.2.2.2 Panasonic 
















Panasonic Corporation formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. , is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in , Osaka, Japan. Its main business is inelectronics manufacturing and it produces products under a variety of names including Panasonic and Technics. 

Since its founding in 1918, it has grown to become the largest Japanese electronics producer. In addition to electronics, Panasonic offers non-electronic products and services such as home renovation services. Panasonic was ranked the 89th-largest company in the world in 2009 by the Forbes Global 2000 and is among the Worldwide Top 20 Semiconductor Sales Leaders. 










6.2.2.3 LG 
















The LG Corp is South Korea's second largest conglomerate that produces electronics, chemicals, and telecommunications products and operates subsidiaries like LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Telecom and LG Chem in over 80 countries. 

LG Corp founder Koo In-Hwoi established Lak-Hui Chemical Industrial Corp. in 1947.In 1952; Lak-Hui (pronounced "Lucky", currently LG Chem) became the first Korean company to enter the plastics industry. As the company expanded its plastics business, it established GoldStar Co., Ltd., (currently LG Electronics Inc.) in 1958. 

Goldstar produced South Korea's first radio. Many consumer electronics were sold under the brand name GoldStar, while some other household products (not available outside South Korea) were sold under the brand name of Lucky. The Lucky brand was famous for its line of hygiene products such as soaps and Hi-Ti laundry detergents, but most associated with its Lucky and Perioe toothpaste. 

In 1995, to better compete in the Western market, the company was renamed "LG", the abbreviation of "Lucky Goldstar". More recently, the company associates the letters LG with the company tagline "Life's Good". Since 2009, LG also owns the domain name LG.com. 













6.2.3 Product Features 



6.2.3.1 Sony TV display 


OLED self-luminescent displays feature superb video image response times and stunningly vivid color reproduction. Sony has striven to enhance functionality even further with "Super Top Emission" technology, which has been integrated into the panel for Sony's new OLED TV "XEL-1." 

OLED stands for Organic Light-emitting Diode and is based on a process whereby electrical energy is converted into light. Solar cells, for example, absorb light and generate electricity, but with OLED the exact opposite occurs. OLED displays are based on component devices containing organic electroluminescent material that emits light when stimulated by electricity.
