2.9.1 Opportunities


  • Display technology trend change from CRT Monitors to LCD Monitors.
  • Recent 3D games require for high-end display graphic which is recommended to be projected only on the supported LCD Monitors.
  • Sony PlayStation 3 offers an alternative choice for the gamers to play on LCD Monitor instead of LCD TV.
  • Due to the over competition in the LCD Monitor industry, consumers will more conscious about the technology offered rather than brand.
  • The introduced of LED technology increase the sales of display devices.
  • The developed of new technology allows consumers to watch TV on their LCD Monitor came with HDTV function.
  • LCD Monitors’ sales have increased due to the Pikom Pc Fair which is organized twice in every year.
  • BenQ used sport marketing as their brand communications. It was the official IT partner of UEFA EURO 2004 and global sponsor for UEFA EURO.
  • With global warming worsening, it's even more important to cut down CO2 emissions by introducing the Eco-friendly products.


2.9.2 Threats


  • “Made in Taiwan” country-of-origin adverse perception.
  • Other display devices such as projectors and LCD TVs become the indirect competitor to replace the LCD Monitor.
  • Stiff competition in the IT and electronics industry especially in display device
  • The price of LCD Monitors drop due to the over competition.
  • Reduced of color clarity in the LCD technology cause part of the consumers especially designers still using CRT Monitor.
